My sincere thanks to the club for inviting me to judge, and to my stewards, who kept the ring running smoothly and efficiently throughout the day. Thanks, must also go to all the exhibitors for your entries and for presenting your dogs well. Despite the very high temperatures, every dog coped admirably, a credit to their conditioning and the care taken by their owners. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and the quality shown across the classes.
Veteran Dog (8,8)
1st Smith’s Isfryn Peeping Tom JW VW
9-year-old male who presents a pleasing shape with a balanced outline. Masculine head with clearly defined stop, dark eye, and a kind, gentle expression. His red and white colouring is only just beginning to show the faintest hints of age. A lovely wagging tail added to his merry temperament. He stand on tight feet with a good front. On the move he showed good ground-covering action with drive, holding his topline throughout. A quality veteran who still shows with strength and enthusiasm.
2nd Wren’s Sh Ch Llon Lewys At Gwynmarren
8-year-old male of pleasing type, slightly heavier in build than 1st but still balanced and well proportioned. Good head with clearly defined stop, kind eye, and correct ear set. Another veteran who does not show his age, with good coat and feathering. His movement was sound, though not quite as settled as the winner today. Much to like about him, but I preferred the overall shape and movement of 1st.

1st McCann & Ritchie’s Slapestones Huckleberry At Praythens – Best Minor Puppy In Show
5-month-old male who already shows a very attractive outline for one so young. Full of enthusiasm, as expected at this age, but once settled he moved nicely, showing early promise of a free, easy stride. Pleasing head with good stop, dark eyes, and soft typical expression. He stands on tight feet with clean front, though understandably still raw at this stage. Good size for age, with a cheerful, wagging tail and a confident attitude. A very appealing baby with time on his side to mature.

1st Sharp’s Hillpark Scarlet Emperor
6-month-old male, full of enthusiasm and clearly enjoying his day out. Once settled, he showed a pleasing outline with a balanced shape for his age. Pleasing head with good stop and dark eyes, giving him a soft, typical expression. Understandably still raw at this early stage, but he stands on a tidy frame with a clean front. On the move he was sound. A promising youngster who simply needs time to develop. Lovely character and plenty to like.

1st Heddle’s Hillpark Meadow Brown – Best Puppy Dog
6-month-old male and litter brother to the Minor Puppy Winner. Young, but already showing a pleasing, balanced outline with a little more substance than his brother. Attractive head with a good stop and a kind eye, giving a soft, typical expression. He stand on a neat frame, presenting himself well for his age without appearing overdone. Carries a cheerful, wagging tail which adds to his appeal. Once settled, he moved with a free, easy stride, showing early promise. A very likeable puppy who only missed out on Best Puppy in show due to maturity.

1st Wren’s Glenbrows The Time Is Now At Gwynmarren
21-month-old male presenting an overall pleasing, balanced shape with good tail set. Masculine head with a clearly defined stop and dark eyes, giving a soft, typical expression. He stands on tight feet with a good front and carries a rich red and white coat with good feathering, adding to his appeal. On the move he covered the ground well, showing a firm, level topline both standing and on the move. A sound mover with good drive. A nicely made young dog with much to like who simply needs a little more time to mature.

1st Stone’s Kidenoan Mark Time For Merrem JW – Best Dog and Best In Show
4-year-old male whom I have judged before, and he continues to impress – still so much to like. He caught my eye as he entered the ring, presenting a well-balanced, well-proportioned outline. Masculine head with a clearly defined stop and dark eyes, giving a typical, kind expression. Rich red and white colouring with lovely feathering, and a cheerful, wagging tail adding to his merry character. He stands on tight feet with a clean front. On the move he showed excellent drive and ground-covering action, holding a firm, level topline. This was a very close class, but I preferred his movement and overall shape today. Delighted to award him Best Dog and ultimately Best In Show. He kept going despite the heat, never faltering.
2nd Chimes’s Bronnydene Fly Red Kite – Reserve Best Dog and Reserve Best In Show
3-year-old male of pleasing shape, presenting a balanced outline with good tail set and rich colouring. Coat in good condition with moderate feathering. He stands on a clean front with tidy feet. Attractive head with clearly defined stop. On the move he was sound, showing good drive and covering the ground well, though not quite as powerful as 1st. Pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog and Reserve Best In Show, preferring his maturity over the Best Bitch in the final challenge.
Open Dog (2,2)
1st Jones’s Trosley Tamoshanta
6-year-old male presenting a good outline and balanced frame, giving a pleasing overall shape. Rich colouring and a head of good proportion, slightly heavier in type but with a clearly defined
stop and typical expression. Good front, correct tail set, and moderate feathering complete the picture. On the move he was sound, showing a steady stride with good drive. He held his topline and covered the ground well. A nicely made dog with much to appreciate.
2nd Hankins’s Julita Rainmaker With Woodelrond
6-year-old male of pleasing outline, lighter in build than 1st but still well balanced and tidy in shape. Attractive head with a clearly defined stop and dark eyes, giving a soft, typical expression. Good length of neck set cleanly into the shoulders, standing on tight feet. Coat in good condition with dark, rich colouring. On the move he was sound, showing good use of his tail and steady stride with good drive. Much to like about him, but I preferred the overall shape and movement of 1st.

1st Levy’s Cerysan Limited Edition
3-year-old male presenting a square, balanced outline with good overall size. Attractive head with a clearly defined stop and dark eye, giving a soft, typical expression. Good colouring and shown in tidy coat. He stands on tight feet with a clean front, giving a neat overall picture. On the move he went out well, covering the ground with ease. Tail carried a little high for my liking, but a nice dog with much to like.
2nd Primmer’s Amanshe Lone Ranger
7-year-old male, bigger and longer in cast than 1st, but still presenting a pleasing overall shape. Shown in good coat with good feathering and a rich red colour, which added to his appearance. Nice head with a good stop, dark eye, giving a kind, typical expression. A faster mover, showing a good ground-covering stride and holding his topline both in profile and on the move. I just preferred the overall body and movement of 1st today.

1st Barkley’s Jacranella Galahad Of Cherryheath (AI) JW
3-year-old male of good overall shape, presenting a balanced outline with a nice tail set and tidy feathering, shown in good coat. A heavier-built dog, but still proportionate and well made. Head of good type, masculine with a dark eye giving a typical expression. He stands on tight feet with a clean front, making a neat picture. On the move he was sound and steady, showing good drive and holding his topline. I preferred his movement over 2nd today.

1st Waller’s Isfryn Lady Godiva At Fireglow JW VW
9-year-old bitch of lovely overall shape, feminine and well balanced with a pleasing size and outline. Good colouring and shown in excellent feathering, giving no impression of her age. Feminine head with a clearly defined stop and dark, kind eye, completing a soft expression. Correct tail set, and she used it happily on the move. She moved out soundly with good drive,
holding her topline and covering the ground with ease. A quality veteran who still shows plenty of enthusiasm and style. Pleased to award her Reserve Best Bitch and Best Veteran In Show.
2nd Jones’s Sh Ch Julita Rumours At Trosley
9-year-old bitch of heavier build than 1st but still presenting a pleasing, balanced shape. Good colouring and coat, only just beginning to show hints of age. Good reach of neck into well-set shoulders, and a happy wagging tail with correct tail set. Lovely head with good stop and dark eye, giving a gentle, feminine expression. Nice front, and she moved out well, though today I preferred the overall movement and drive of 1st.

6-month-old bitch of good overall shape, showing a pleasing outline with nice bone and a balanced frame for her age. Good colouring and presented in tidy coat. Feminine head with a kind expression, nice eye and dark pigment, giving her a soft, typical look. She stands on a clean front and moves with a free, easy stride, showing nice movement once settled. A fun, happy puppy with a wagging tail and an appealing attitude. A promising youngster, and I look forward to watching her mature.
2nd Walton, Coffin & Patterson’s Hillpark Kentish Glory
6-month-old bitch and litter sister to the winner. Much to like about her – she presents a nice overall shape with dark, rich colouring and a feminine outline. Lighter in build than 1st but still balanced and well proportioned. Pretty head with a clearly defined stop and nice dark eye. A happy puppy who simply needs a little more time to settle. Movement was sound, but today I preferred the overall movement of her sister. A promising youngster with plenty of potential.

9-month-old bitch of lovely overall shape, feminine and nicely proportioned with a rich, dark coat shown in good condition. Good feathering and a tidy outline with correct tail set. She stands on nice feet with clean front, giving a well-balanced picture. Pretty head with a clearly defined stop and a nice dark eye, completing a gentle, typical expression. Finer in build, but everything is in proportion and developing well for her age. On the move she was sound, showing a free, easy stride with good drive. Her maturity and confidence on the day gave her the edge, and I was pleased to award her Best Puppy Bitch and ultimately Best Puppy In Show.

1st Dixon’s Rubydown Summer Joy
12-month-old bitch of lovely overall shape, presenting a pleasing side profile with good bone and a nicely balanced outline. A promising youngster who simply needs time to fully develop. Feminine head with a clearly defined stop and lovely dark eyes, giving a soft, typical expression. Level topline, tight feet and a tidy front complete the picture. On the move she was steady, showing a ground-covering stride. A quality young bitch with plenty to admire who simply needs time to mature.
2nd Wallace’s Amblelight Meadow Orchid
14-month-old bitch with a nice body, still needing time to develop and fill out. Lovely dark eyes and feminine head. Good feathering and rich coat colour, with a tidy front. I would prefer the tail carried a little higher on the move, as this affected her overall outline. She moved out well, but today I preferred the body and movement of 1st. A nice youngster who will continue to improve with age.

1st Mayo’s Helgen Candy Mountain
2-year-old bitch who caught my eye the moment she entered the ring. She presents a lovely overall shape, feminine and well-proportioned, with a rich red coat shown in excellent condition. Good feathering, a neat front and tight feet give her a clean, tidy outline. Strong yet feminine head with a clearly defined stop and dark eye. On the move she was sound and purposeful, with good drive and holding her topline with ease. Her overall shape and movement won her the class today. I was pleased to award her Best Bitch and Best Opposite Sex In Show, only losing out on the top award as she need just a little more time to fully mature. A quality bitch with a bright future.

5-year-old bitch of classic shape, a different type to 1st but with much to admire. Good feathering and nice colouring, shown in a tidy coat. A lovely head with a good stop and dark eye, giving a soft, typical expression. Tight feet and a good front. On the move she showed smooth, ground-covering action, holding her topline and keeping a steady, balanced outline. Today I preferred the overall type and movement of 1st.

She has a neat front and stands on tidy feet. On the move she was sound, showing a steady stride with good drive. She carried her head well on the move, giving her presence in the ring.

6-year-old bitch of lovely overall shape, feminine and well balanced with good bone and a pleasing outline. A touch longer in body, but still in proportion. Rich red and white coat, moderately feathered and shown in good condition. Nice front, lovely dark eye and a feminine head with a clearly defined stop, giving a soft, typical expression. On the move she was very good, showing a free, easy stride and holding her topline well. Tail carried a little high at times for me, but a quality bitch with much to admire.
2nd Primmer’s Amanshe Mermaid’s Tears
8-year-old bitch of nice body and shape, well-proportioned and shown in tidy coat with rich red and white colouring. Nice front and tight feet. Lovely head with a good stop and dark eye giving a kind, typical look. She moved well with good, fast movement, showing enthusiasm and covering the ground effectively. A nice bitch, but today I preferred the overall movement and type of 1st.

Lovely head with a soft expression, dark eye and good stop. She moved well, showing a steady stride and holding her outline, though today I preferred the overall finish and presence of 1st. A pleasing bitch with several good qualities.

11-year-old bitch of heavier build yet still presenting a nice shape and balanced outline. She carries herself with a happy, wagging tail, full of enthusiasm and certainly not looking her age. Coat in lovely condition, full of rich colour, enhancing her overall appearance. Good front, standing on tidy feet. Lovely head with a clearly defined stop and a nice dark eye, giving a soft, typical expression. She moved beautifully, steady and sound, holding her topline and showing plenty of life for her years. A very worthy winner.
2nd Caldwell’s Hillpark Queen Bee For Cerysan AWB
9-year-old bitch, lightening in colour with age, but still presenting a nice square shape with a clean outline. Good front and a nice head with good stop. Dark eye giving a kind expression. She moved well with drive, though carried her tail a touch high for my liking on the move, which
affected her overall outline. A close decision, but today I preferred the overall size and balance of the winner.

Thank you to those of you who supported me on the day trusting me with your lovely dogs. The conditions were hard for the dogs who performed extremely well given the heat. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the atmosphere which was so warm and friendly and I hope to see you in the show ring in the future.

1st Caldwell’s Hillpark Painted Lady for Cerysan Lovely young bitch with lovely feminine head with well defined stop, chiselling evident below the eyes. Muzzle of correct length and fairly square. Dentition clean and correct, Eyes dark and clean no Haw evident. Ears small set low, tapering toward tip, clean inside. Proportionately correct long muscular neck into well laid shoulders. Forelegs well boned and straight, Body strong and muscular not too long, well sprung ribs and deep brisket. Hindquarters well muscled good second thighs evident, good bone throughout, hocks well let down with moderately angled stifles. Tail moderately feathered, carried level with the back, with traditional lively action. Smooth powerful action when on the move. Coat in super silky condition throughout.
2nd Dixon’s Rubydown Summer Joy Another lovely young bitch, with slight dome to head with clearly defined stop, chiselling evident below the eyes. Muzzle of correct length and fairly square. Hindquarters muscled, second thighs evident, nice bone throughout, hocks well let down with moderately angled stifles. Tail moderately feathered, carried level with the back with nice action, Coat in good silky condition. Smooth action when on the move.
